Why is it called 43 folders

Long story not very short? One night in after killing it in front of audience of about 30 lucky people in Oakland-- The Long Winters needed a place to crash, and my wife and I were happy to oblige. So, they drove their Big Stinky Blue Van over the bridge, slept on our floor, and by breakfast the next morning, it'd become clear to me that I'd provided lodging to a man who was not only very likely a member of my karass --he was also one of the smartest bullshit artists I'd ever met.

Almost eight years later, although I don't see him nearly as much as I'd like, I still count the guy as one of my best pals ever. Advertise on 43 Folders via The Deck. Setting up your 43 folders system digitally is easy to do. There are two options, namely, the 43me app or a different type of note-taking software, such as OneNote or Evernote. The 43me app is available on both the Apple Store and the Google Play store. This app automatically creates your 43 folders, and you can start adding your tasks to the relevant folder on the app. In addition, you can set up reminders through the app. For example, you can choose from a morning, mid-day or evening reminder.

The app also allows for the use of tags, and you can send your tasks to other users. Using the 43 folders system in a note-taking application is easy.

Just make sure your note-taking app of choice allows you to use folders; otherwise, you may have to consider having hashtagged files for each date and one for each month. If you are using Evernote, create 43 folders — one for each day of the month and then one for each month. You can create a notebook stack with all your folders and call it your tickler. Pin it to make sure it remains at the top of your notebooks. Now add items to the relevant date if in the current month or the relevant month if not due in the current month.

With OneNote, you can create a notebook with a date section and a month section. Then you make a file for each day and each month. Now add items to the relevant month or date. For Trello, create a 43 folders board. Then you can add two lists, one for dates and one for months.

I use this system in conjunction with an electronic reminder system. It is often helpful to have the folder system when I want to save a physical copy of something — an invitation, a map, or even a catering confirmation. I drop it in a folder on the date I plan to mail it. I have been doing this for 20 years. For example, I have a conference call every third Thursday.

I have a paper with discussion items I put in my file on the Monday before. When I pull the paper, I make notes under the items I have information to present. Then put it back in the Thursday spot to have ready for the call.

I was in the administrative field for over 30 years. There were many, but one that I was very happy with and committed to using, the 43 files! The best technique to keep organized, efficient and less to focus on that day or even that month!

I wowed myself and those who I supported! Highly recommended! This is an interesting system. I do still have a few I tems that are paper triggered. Currently, I put a note on my Outlook calendar as a reminder and then go to a folder that contains all future items to be handled but this system would provide an organized mechanism to work along with the Outlook reminder.

Thank you for sharing!! This is a system introduced to me today, by you that I really want to try. Organization is key to success in my book and it it helps with your daily tasks, staying on track, and showing how you do it all because my boss does ask every now and then how I do things. This is a system I think they would enjoy!! I like this!

Your 41 folder method may be just the ticket to save my sanity! I think this is also called a tickle file. I have been looking for a paper system since sending myself reminder after reminder on my calendar is not efficient. Thanks for the update! Great explanation of how this works! This is a great, classic, tickler system.

I used to work for a very large company, and the pace is completely different; our priorities change all of the time. I think this method is proof that simple is often best. Thank you for this information. The 43 Folders Method would work great at home as well for me to keep track of monthly bills and etc. The GTD getting things done system is a great way to organize everything.

One of the suggestions he makes is tickler files, which works like the 43 folder system. What a great idea! Thanks, again. I admire anyone who uses this system.

I have used it in the past except I used 2 accordion files; one with tabs 1 — 31 and one tabs for the months.
