Separated from Cody, Waxer and Boil stumbled upon the young female Twi'lek orphan Numa [9] in an alley. Waxer wanted to take her with them, but Boil insisted that she would only slow them down. As the two started to argue, Waxer spotted a Separatist recon droid flying nearby. By hiding in the alley, the clones managed to remain undetected by the droid , but its appearance prompted Boil to hurry Waxer.

The latter continued to insist on taking Numa with them and soon convinced Boil to do so. As Boil reached to Numa, however, she bit his finger , leading Waxer to believe that she must have mistaken the two for droids. To ease the girl's fears, Waxer removed his helmet and tried to explain to Numa that he and Boil were living beings , just like her.

Noticing that Numa looked starved, Boil and Waxer gave her a ration bar. After tasting the bar , the girl called the clones "nerra," a Twi'leki word unknown to Waxer and Boil. The clones then returned to their scouting mission, and Numa followed them. Soon, however, Numa ran away in the direction of the recon droid , and Waxer, unwilling to let her be killed by the droids, decided to follow her, much to Boil's dismay. The girl led the two clones to her destroyed home , [4] where Waxer noticed a tooka doll [9] lying on the floor.

After he gave the doll to Numa, she began to cry, and the two clones comforted her. The two troopers received an incoming transmission from Cody and realized that they were late. Boil wanted to answer the transmission, but Waxer stopped him and asked how they would explain their delay to the commander.

Waxer then told Boil that it would be better if they hurried back to the Republic position and claimed that they had ran into trouble, lying that their communications had been jammed as further cover. Before the clones could get very far, however, several gutkurrs — predatory beasts released by the Separatists to fight the Republic forces—attacked them, and they were forced to retreat with Numa back into the home.

To escape the creatures, Numa led the clones into an underground passage, and they resurfaced near Kenobi, Cody, and the rest of Ghost Company, who had just fought off a number of gutkurrs themselves. Conversing to Numa in Twi'leki, Kenobi discovered that she could lead them through secret passages to the Twi'lek prisoners , who were trapped at the courtyard near the proton cannons. While Cody and the rest of his company created a diversion to distract the droids, Waxer and Boil went with Kenobi to free the hostages.

The three were successful in their mission and liberated the Twi'leks, who then took cover in the secret passage. There, Numa was reunited with her uncle, [4] Nilim Bril. However, a shot from Separatist T-series tactical droid commander TX's Armored Assault Tank destroyed the commandeered cannon and blasted the three aside.

Numa, worried for her new friends, ran from her cover to the clones, and after they had recovered, she ran over to Kenobi.
